The 3D Blog

This blog is all about 3D design, game graphics, hardware comparisons, etc. I think you get the picture.
I have to accept I don't have much talent but I do try, which is like failing except even worse...

Project Stardust Update #2

Completion is imminent. If my teacher says that this is ok I finally get my certificate! Hurrah! By the way I'll be posting a tutorial on how to make the shielding effect I created in 3ds max. Hope you guys like it!

Shielding Effect

After watching a video on Youtube of this shield that this guy made, I got curious as to how I could make a better one. This is the product of those few hours spent on making a shield that will stop anything and looks amazing to boot! I am aware of the fact that the shield does not have the best texture but the focus was on the way the particles dispersed as they hit the shield.

Project Stardust Update #1

So far so good. After emailing my instructor I waited patiently and by the next day I had received an email giving some advice. I followed those instructions and I think I've achieved quite a nice effect although it took me a while. I hope you like the new portal I've created. I prefer it over the previous one since it looks much more like a gateway between two parts of the universe.

Post your thoughts in the comments section below! :D

My Youtube Channel

Here's the link to my youtube channel: TheProphetsNextDoor

Check it out!

Blast from the Past #1

Alright! I've decided that I should put some of my old renderings and whatnot onto here. Well I guess I'd better stop typing and instead get to uploading.

Campfire!

Long time no post. Sorry for the pun. Anyway this morning I was sitting in front of my computer when my friend Ata asked me, "Can you do fire in 3Ds Max?". I told him, "Of course you can!" and this began the process of creating a campfire. I won't go into intimate detail of what was done because I plan on making a tutorial later on.

He gave the ideas and the criticism and I did the technical details although I believe we contributed equally in the creative process. Here is the product of three to fours hours of work:
